In December we debuted an entirely new menu with Asian Fusion flavors! We got to try out new techniques and get more experience with cooking to order. It was incredibly rewarding and fun to see many people we didn't know come out and give us a try!
- Pork Dumplings: A Timeless Classic The culinary adventure started with a classic favorite – our Pork Dumplings. We are dumpling lovers so it was fun to put our twist on these by using slow-cooked marinated pork as our filling served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. They say it's not about the result, it's about the journey and it was quite a journey to find the right dumpling wrappers, the best filling ratio, and the best cooking method.
- Twisted Turkey: A Fusion of Flavors For those seeking a fusion of flavors, the Twisted Turkey was a must-try. Lean ground turkey finds a new identity in our cabbage cups, topped with a vibrant superfood slaw, cilantro aioli, and a drizzle of yaki sauce. The ensemble is elegantly presented over a bed of fried rice, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that captures the essence of Bowlcuts and of course, since we knew people liked Turkey Junk, the Twisted Turkey wasn't too much of a stretch. Everyone's had lettuce cups and we wanted to play on that idea, substituting lettuce for cabbage gave the filling a heartier shell that was less likely to collapse. It's just an added bonus that the red cabbage is so pretty.
- Yaki Salmon: Bold and Beautiful a blackened salmon masterpiece glazed with yaki sauce. Topped with a refreshing vinegar slaw and served alongside Brussels sprouts on a bed of fried rice, this dish is a celebration of bold flavors and culinary finesse. Each bite is a journey through the oceanic depths of Asian-inspired taste. This dish was another reinvention of a previous dish debuted by Bowlcuts, we love blackened salmon so we decided it was time to bring it back and Tulsa didn't disappoint!
- Turkey Junk: Wholesome Indulgence Indulge in the wholesome goodness of the Turkey Junk – a hearty dish featuring lean ground turkey and a warm superfood slaw. Resting on a bed of fried rice, this creation is crowned with goat cheese, cilantro aioli, and a sprinkle of green onions. It's a satisfying symphony of textures and tastes that embodies the unique spirit of Bowlcuts as one of the OG dishes that has really been around since the inception of Bowlcuts. We knew this dish had to be on the menu and really we just built the rest of our menu out from Turkey Junk.
- Mochi Brownie: A Sweet Finale The culinary expedition ended on a sweet note with our Mochi Brownie. This unique dessert combines the chewiness of mochi with the decadence of a brownie, creating a sweet harmony that will tantalize your taste buds. It's the perfect ending to a Bowlcuts experience filled with diverse and delightful Asian fusion flavors.
We can't wait to be back in the Takeover Cafe in January to debut all of the new ideas we've been cooking up. See you soon!
